In a significant step towards financial inclusion and digital transformation, AFRICOM Technologies & BPO Services and the National ID Ethiopia successfully concluded a four-day training program on February 3rd, 2024.
This initiative aims to empower over 3.2 million microfinance borrowers across 34 organizations by registering them with the National Digital Identity platform, known as hashtag#Fayda.
This grand project, covering the entire nation, not only holds the potential to empower millions of citizens with a secure and verified digital identity but also creates employment opportunities for nearly 500 young Ethiopians.
The inaugural training cohorts, hailing from Addis Ababa and the Oromia Region, participated in a comprehensive and intensive program at the our ICT park training center. To ensure a smooth and successful training experience, high-quality support services, including transportation, catering, and logistics, were provided.
The training program provided participants with a thorough understanding of the National ID program, ID Law, cybersecurity best practices, communication and behavioral conduct, customer handling, exception handling, registration procedures, kit assembly and management, and supervisor skills. Additionally, trainees received hands-on experience in a simulated registration environment at NIDP public registration, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle real-world scenarios.
This initiative directly contributes to the hashtag#DigitalEthiopia 2025 Strategy, recognizing the critical role of a robust digital identity infrastructure in building the nation's digital economy.
