In a significant step toward fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa, the Alibaba Global Digital Talent Academy (GDTA) was inaugurated in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The academy is the result of a collaboration between the Alibaba Global Initiative (AGI) and the Digital Transformation and E-commerce Academy (DTEA).
The program is designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in e-commerce and the digital economy. Participants will gain insights into global best practices, digital business strategies, and the tools needed to thrive in an increasingly digitalized marketplace.
The academy’s mission is to create a sustainable ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa by empowering individuals with the skills to leverage digital platforms effectively. This initiative is expected to catalyze economic growth, foster job creation, and enable the next wave of African business leaders to compete on the global stage.
With its launch in Ethiopia, GDTA underscores Alibaba’s commitment to supporting the development of the digital economy in emerging markets, further solidifying Addis Ababa’s position as a hub for innovation and technology in the region.
